Dudes, Ithaca and Ann Arbor have all of those things and actually affordable rent.

Yeah, but Portland and Brooklyn also have “near cooler places”, like the entire east coast and Seattle. Ithaca is sadly lacking on that front.

What does ‘affordable’ mean? Because I find it really hard to believe that Portland actually has affordable rent. Then again, I’ve never been there. This is just speculation.

I lived in a 2 bedroom that was like $875 a month split between three people. Pretty affordable for a city.

I’m just gonna say that this infographic had to have been made by a white person. I can’t imagine anyone else would not noticed/mentioned the HUGE difference in ethnic diversity between the two places.
also, BK has the Brooklyn Museum, which is pretty awesome in its own right, not to mention that BK has proximity to Manhattan, with many more museums & cultural events. Portland…doesn’t. There are a couple of decent museums here, but San Francisco & Seattle (the next closest cities to Portland) are much further than Manhattan is form Brooklyn.
Whatever, NYC »> PDX

my cousin lives in brooklyn. apparently his apartment is near the place they filmed ‘crooklyn’ and that place is just so gr9.

DOCUMENTING NYC’S MARIJUANA ARREST CRUSADE

U.S. government studies have consistently found that young whites use marijuana at higher rates than young blacks or Latinos. Yet, in 2010, the New York Police Department  arrested blacks for marijuana possession at seven times the rate of whites, and Latinos at nearly four times the rate of whites. In New York City 87% of the people arrested for marijuana possession are blacks and Latinos.
New York City’s racially-biased marijuana arrests are extreme, but they are not unusual. Large cities and counties throughout the United States arrest blacks and Latinos for marijuana possession at three, four, five, and up to ten times or more the rate of whites. Los Angeles arrests blacks at seven times the rate of whites, just as New York City does. Chicago does as well. Along with DNA collection for misdemeanors and other policing policies, this produces an institutional form of unjust discrimination that some have termed “racism without racists.” The law professor and scholar Michelle Alexander has rightly described this as “the new Jim Crow.” +

Why am I not surprised.

mmhhhmmmm

You could expand this data to any city. In undergrad I lived in the projects & you would see cars full of white kids pulling up every weekend to find whoever was serving that night. The kids in the cars? Never got busted even though they were buying big dumb bags of dope.

oh. great. awesome.
